State of Texas Changes Vaccination Eligibility Criteria

The Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program will no longer cover vaccinations for children covered under private insurance. This change has resulted in cancellation of the Shots Across Texas vaccination campaign for Montgomery County this year.

Program Changes

The Texas Department of State Health Services sent a letter to school officials informing them of changes to the TVFC program.

Who can get TVFC vaccines?

All health clinics and provider offices that use state vaccines are now required to use the TVFC Eligibility Form to determine who can get vaccinated.

Why aren’t we having Shots Across Texas in Montgomery County this year?

At large-scale events like Shots Across Texas, it’s difficult to determine which individuals have private insurance and which do not. For further explanation, see Shots Across Texas.
